Mika Snickars is a legendary figure and mentor for many DJs and record collectors in Stockholm and his record shop “Snickars” has been the go-to shop for all kinds of dance music since it opened in 1995.
Snickars started his career as a hip-hop DJ in the mid 80’s and later became a part of Stockholms growing underground rave scene. From 1995 to 2000 he toured with the turntabalist crew Scratchaholics and in 1998 he cemented his reputation by locking down the title of DJ champion at the Swedish DMCs.
While still a respected scratch DJ, Mika has never settled for just that. His knowledge and skill when it comes to techno, house, disco and balearic beat - is just as deep. But his discipline and skill as a hip-hop DJ also shines through when handling genres closely related, as he is known to extend and juggle breaks by seamlessly cutting between double copies of a record.
As an avid collector across so many genres, you can count on the fact that his bag will be filled with secret weapons that will make your jaw drop. Be it styrene 7-inches of Icelandic disco funk or unknown balearic new wave bangers from the Carribeans or psychedelic deep techno electro, you're always in for a treat.
Also part of Mikas bag is his own re-edits, which he has been cutting on 1-copy acetates for many years, as he likes to keep it old school and save some of the thrills for the dancefloor in these digital days…
